A few weeks ago Zulily’s had TOMS on sale. I am really weird about spending a lot of money on shoes so this was perfect for me. I got me some emerald glitter ones and could not wait to wear them after they came in so when Monday rolled around I wore the TOMS.
To only be a year old Bradley is a ham. He has his moments almost everyday where he is doing something silly. With his eczema, teeth and tummy bothering him I made sure to snap some shots of all his silly faces. Gotta love them.
For Christmas Adam got me an embroidery machine and needless to say I still haven’t had much time to embroidery. Now I LOVE the machine for sewing. I have retired my old machine and only used it once when I had some thread that wasn’t agreeing with my new machine. I recently pulled out all of Bradley’s onsies that were “plain” and decided I was going to “fancy” them up. Almost a month later I finally monogrammed the first onsie. I am not sure what I am going to do with the second one. But considering this is my first time monogramming with it I am pleased.
Sunday we went to the park. I have got to get better about taking pictures of the big kids as they run by. Bradley had lots of fun. He was jumping up and down watching the big kids play.
I had lots of laundry this weekend. I decided I’d wash the kids’ jackets and I found lots of treasurers. Apparently Alyssa had hidden lots of stuff in her pocket because I found it in my dryer.
With the warm weather approaching I decided it was time for a pedicure. Adam was sweet enough to paint my toe nails.
This week we are eating whatever is in the pantry. When I say whatever I mean whatever. I haven’t been to the grocery store in about two weeks other than to grab this or that so by the end of the week the pickings will be slim.
Monday, we had another one of my tried and true favorites…home style bakes. This time it was the creamy potatoes with chicken and biscuits. Needless to say I was worried about it. See when I was cooking it I was on the phone with Adam and well I wasn’t fully paying attention and I doubled the water that goes in the biscuit top so I had to add some flour to it to thicken it up. Then I had another issue..it overflowed in the stove. Who wants to come clean my stove for me now?!? But luckily it turned out great and everyone loved it. We had zero leftovers. When Noah asked for seconds Taylor got upset because she wasn’t done with hers yet and was afraid he’d finish it off and she wanted seconds too. They all said it was kinda like having breakfast for dinner.
Since the kids were all about breakfast for dinner, Tuesday night we decided we’d have just that..breakfast. Adam made some stuffed chicken over the weekend so I thought this would be the perfect time to use the rest of the sausage. We had pancakes, sausage and eggs. It may sounds crazy but I always double the recipe when making pancakes because my kids can put away some pancakes. Alyssa ate 6, Taylor ate 5 and Noah ate 4. Adam asked how many should he make because he had made 18 and it wasn’t enough. But now we have leftovers which means Mommy and Daddy can have breakfast together before work.
Wednesday I had a meeting at the school and forgot to lay out some meat. So when I went to the store to pick up a few things I grabbed another home style bake. Ok, I know we have been eating them a lot lately, but you really can’t go wrong with them. This time I got pizza pasta. The one thing I don’t like about them is the lack of meat. So I added some pepperoni and some sauce before I put it in the oven. I tossed some garlic bread in the oven too and we were good to go. Everyone loved it and we didn’t have any leftovers.
Thursday I was feeling a little under the weather. I have been having headaches almost everyday for several weeks, gotta love sinus season. So Adam brought home Chinese food. The kids love it, it’s really inexpensive and its easy. So we ended the week on a lazy note.
Bradley’s first birthday was done in monkeys so my color scheme was red and brown. I knew one thing I wanted for his party was a birthday hat for him to wear that matched everything. I looked online for a pattern to make one and all I could find was one that was smaller than what I wanted, so I decided I’d look at the store for a cheap one that I could redecorate.
When walking through Dollar Tree one day I found one. Sorry I forgot to take a big of the before. I knew I could easily take off the tisle around the bottom of the hat. Then I undid it to make it a flat piece of cardboard. At first I thought about covering it with card stock but then I decided I wanted something that looked nicer and that would hold up well. So I decided I’d cover it with some brown fabric. I used a glue stick like I buy the kids to glue the fabric onto the hat.
Then I used my hot glue gun to glue it back together and make it back into the hat shape.
I had originally wanted ric rac to glue around the top and bottom of the hat but I was only able to find it in brown so I bought this other ribbon in red and honestly I loved the red ribbon and hated the ric rac. I decided I needed something other than the brown and red so I got in my stash of ribbon and found this off white that I thought went well with it.
I am not sure what I was thinking when I spaced out the ribbon but I was not happy with it. So I decided to add more ribbon and make it fuller. I also added some of the red ribbon around the top. Then I cut out a “1” from some red fabric and attached it with fabric glue.
It didn’t turn out exactly how I imagined it but what ever does?!? Noah has requested one for his birthday so I know what changes I’ll be making and it will not have ric rac on it. I’ll save that for sewing.
Life has been busy so some of these are from a little longer than the last week but I wanted to catch up on what I missed.
Warrior dance night was a hit. The kids all loved it and I’ve had several people ask me about it being an annual event. I certainly hope we can make it an annual event.
Bradley’s first birthday went well!! He wasn’t too sure about the cake. I still have pictures to edit so hopefully I can get the done soon and get more details about everything from his party up.
Trial went good, I guess. We won, yay! But the jury only awarded $3,700 so its not much for 4 years of work, lots of expenses and our client ends up with little. 😦
The girls have not been able to get along for a while now. We have said time and time again that we need another bedroom. While we’d love to be able to build one right now that isn’t in the budget. We decided to swap rooms around so Alyssa and Noah share a room instead. But we also decided to set up the furniture to divide the room so the big room looks more like two rooms. We still have lots to do but they were pleased with the furniture set up.
Adam added onto Noah’s bookcase for me. I am going to make the lower top a Lego table. But the bookcase itself looks GREAT!!
Bradley is officially pulling up on everything including the dishwasher.
During all our craziness we found some time to go by the park. Bradley enjoyed the swing for the first time.
We are ready for spring. I got out some of the Easter decoration yesterday. They go well with the pretty flowers Adam got me.
